Ilustration In Pursuance Of Books Blue Smoke

Reena Hale grew up with an intimate knowledge of the destructive power of fire. When she was a child, her family's restaurant was burned to the ground, and the man responsible was sent to jail. The Hale family banded together to rebuild, and Reena found her life's calling. She trained as a firefighter and then as a cop, always with the end goal in sight: to become an arson investigator. Now, as part of the arson unit, she is called in on a series of suspicious fires that seem to be connected-not just to each other, but to her. And as danger ignites all around her, Reena must rely on experience and instinct to catch a dangerous madman who will not stop until everything she loves has gone up in smoke.

As always, it did what it was supposed to do--entertain me. If you're looking for a book that exposes deep truths about the human condition, or examines some stark reality of life, you're not going to pick up a romance. Romance reading is like watching a sitcom. It's something to take your mind on a quick trip through fantasyland for a short period of time. You're not really looking for deep analysis of symbolism, character development, or theme when you pick up a romance. But if you're going to

Enjoyed this one. (I forgot to put it on goodreads.) It was a quick read for me because I realized I had read it before many moons ago. It was good enough to read a second time so I did. It is a clever story and I think re-reading books like this are a bit more fun when you are a writer and the second time through you look for things that you don't when you are reading for enjoyment. I learned a lot reading this time because I wasn't needing to figure out whodunnit, but I was able to see some of

I really enjoyed "Blue Smoke", and would have absolutely given it a 5-star review if it hadn't been for one thing -- this was, without a doubt, the most disturbing and twisted novel I've read of Nora Roberts'. That's not necessarily a bad thing... she does thriller/mystery stories REALLY well. But of all her stand-alone romance/suspense novels, this one dove into the mindset of the villain in WAY more graphic detail than I've read before. And there's just something about a psychopath obsessed

DNF at page 282It was: "Started off well went meh in the middle the briefly picked up again" By that time though, I didn't care anymore. At first I liked Reena, even if she seemed a little unrealistic at times. I would love to have that good of a memory sometimes. Loved her family and the pizza place, the pride everyone took in it.Reena started to lose her appeal... not that she got on my nerves exactly, I just stopped caring. While I loved Bowen Goodnight, I never felt the chemistry between

Right from the beginning, I was sucked in. Ms. Roberts chose a GREAT way to begin the story, and I couldn't put it down. All the characters are believable and likeable, and the plotline is good and believable. Ms. Roberts pulled this story off nicely, and I was happy to see a strong female character like Catarina Hale. I can only imagine how fascinating Ms. Hale's job would be!Personally, Ms. Roberts should stick to these kinds of novels, instead of writing ones about magic - I didn't enjoy the

I enjoyed this to a certain point, especially young Reena but I found it much too long with lots of unnecessary filler before we get to the main story and I found the bad guy too clever (given he is setting fires and killing people for a 10 yr period and he eludes capture wreaking a ridiculous amount of havoc even after they know who he is but there is no mention of a particularly high IQ at any point) and the amount of damage he was able to inflict before they caught him ridiculously high. I
